Scans
Gynaecology scans £95
Ultrasound is often used as a first line approach to assess the uterus and ovaries, performed for women with a variety of gynaecological concerns including pain, period issues, infertility, fertility treatment and effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy.
A gynaecological scan can either be performed transabdominally (over the tummy) or transvaginally (internally). An internal scan is usually the preferred method as it gets you closer to the uterus to allow for clearer assessment of the structures.
If you are on HRT/Biodentical hormones, having a yearly pelvic scan is an often recommended by doctors to assess your uterus and ovaries. We can provide a report and images for your doctor/clinic (electronically if required).
Reasons for self-referral may include pain and tenderness, swelling and bloating, irregular periods painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), bleeding after intercourse (post-coital), heavy periods (menorrhagia), follow up of known cysts, intra-uterine contraceptive device (coil) location, endometrial thickness and follicle count for fertility scans.
We can look for endometrial polyps, ovarian cysts, fibroids, polycystic ovaries, adenomyosis and signs of pelvic inflammatory disease.
We do not usually require a referral, but we do ask for your permission to contact your doctor with the findings if necessary.
